The Skin
An organ that demarcates exterior and interior space, it is the pivot of the creative process. Simultaneously a boundary, a shell, and a receptor, it is the link between two worlds. In our work, it becomes the medium for attempts to experiment with this duality. Our thoughts, our emotions, our desires have no form of consistency, yet their forces are undeniable and shape our lives; they fill us; the skin material contains them on both sides.
Construction
addresses interiority through the notion of temporality. The act of building oneself over time, of composing oneself, responds to the need for structure, for a continuity rooted in past experiences. At the same time, the ever-changing present continually tests the strength of these constructions, perpetuating the duality of the desire to be both supple and solid.
Molting
This change from one state to another is also the partial or total renewal of the skin under the influence of environmental conditions for some species. We don’t physically molt, but how can we objectify our changes conditioned by our environment?
